Our Impact
The biggest impact of our work isn’t the fruit trees we plant; it’s the ripple effect these orchards and food forests create: from greater biodiversity and urban cooling, to reconnecting neighbours with nature and each other.
Our work grows deeper roots: not just in orchards, but in people’s lives.
- £1m+
Boost to the economy through communities across the UK being able to harvest their own fruit.
- 96%
Of people involved in our orchards said it improves their mental and/or physical wellbeing.
- 2,319
People trained in orchard management last year, ensuring local communities have all the skills they need.
- 301
New fruit trees planted. When mature, this provides 100k portions of locally produced fruit into local food systems.
"A year ago I didn’t leave the house without my carer, so I know my progress has been awesome."
Our work with Fruitful Lanarkshire in Scotland has given profound benefits for those taking part: increasing skills, confidence and improving mental health. Learn about the knock-on benefits for the local area in our end-of-project report.

2024-2025 Highlights
Every season of the year is equally important to us for the successful growth of community orchards across the UK.
- Spring
We launched the UK’s first schools programme to nurture future orchard leaders, thanks to a grant from the Julia Rausing Trust.
- Summer
We began a corporate partnership with Daylesford Farm as part of our mutual aim to recognise the importance of orchards, particularly for organic food production.
- Autumn
TV presenter and author Julia Bradbury presented our BBC Radio 4 Appeal on 6 October 2024, which raised over £7.5k towards our work.
- Winter
In January over 200 people turned up for a community wassail at Forever Fields Market Garden in Manchester.
“It’s been an incredible project to work on, highlighting for me the power that an engaged community has to the success of a project.”
Joe Ford, Manchester’s Forever Fields project manager talks the project that inspired a local community to create an extensive forest garden corridor where they live.
