We’re thrilled to announce that we will be having a Radio 4 Appeal on Sunday 6 October, presented by writer and tv presenter Julia Bradbury.
Urban community orchards provide a calm and welcoming haven for people like Franki, from South London, who is the focus of our upcoming Radio 4 Appeal. A few years ago, she was experiencing burnout and anxiety that left her unable to work.
During her time off, she jumped at the chance of a free place on our year-long accredited orcharding course. She learnt all about how to manage community orchards, as well as meeting like-minded people committed to making a difference in their local area.
She now welcomes change with each passing season, rather than being overwhelmed by it. Her anxiety about climate change is eased as she actively works towards building a more biodiverse and resilient environment. Franki feels grounded, nurtured, and connected when in an orchard – her ‘happy place’ as she calls it.
If you can, please do support our appeal to help more people find solace in a community orchard near them.
How to listen:
Tune in to BBC Radio 4 (92-95 MHz FM or on BBC Sounds) at 07:54 or 21:25 on Sunday 6 October, again on Thursday 10 October at 15:27.
