We love comfrey. And of course we love trees… So, to celebrate London Tree Week 2016, we have decided to celebrate the magic-organic power of comfrey to enrich soils and feed our fruit trees. But we won’t just be spreading the word about this generous plant, we’ll be spreading the comfrey itself! We’re launching an ambitious plan to plant comfrey around every one of the thousands of the fruit and nut trees that we have helped to plant in London since our first planting at Wilton Estate in Hackney in 2009.
To kickstart this crazy plan we will be mobilising our troop of volunteer Master Orchardists to help deliver and plant comfrey plants with orchard groups across the city for London Tree Week. The aim is that orchards can then run their own comfrey planting days for the community and promote them as part of London Tree Week, from Saturday 28th May to Sunday 5th June.
Keep an eye on our Facebook page for details about any comfrey planting events and activities happening in a community orchard near you!
