We had some great volunteers in October, helping us with harvesting, scrub clearance and cider pressing, and giving our local orchard volunteers a welcome boost.
Sunday Assembly, who we share an office with, organised a group to come harvesting as part of their Help Often initiative. They filled 20 crates with Idareds, Bramleys, Spartans and Jonagold apples from an orchard in Mill Hill, for pressing at our Cider House. M&S Spark Something Good volunteers cleared and dug out brambles from two of the orchards we are working with, including Chinbrook Meadow Allotments, where they uncovered a fig tree everyone had forgotten was there!
Two keen foragers joined our Cultivate London apprentices to pick the apples we juiced at the RHS event on 4th and 5th October, and a group of students from LSE helped us with some more orchard scrub clearance. And a few extra hands were very welcome at our Cider House on the 30th October to help Rosa with our first ever apple pressing!
Thanks to everyone for giving their time and energy!
If you would like to get involved then read on here as our cider house is now open and we are calling all volunteers to help chop, press and bottle our delicious 2016 Cider and Juice.
