After ten years of success and growth we are looking for a new Honorary Treasurer to join our board.
We are seeking an individual with substantial experience of financial management in the charity, commercial or public sector. Currently our Board consists of nine trustees with varied experience and skills including global food supply chain directorship, procurement, environmental policy, charity management, and business development. We are a lively and friendly Board and we enjoy welcoming new people and talents to support our exciting journey.
This is an amazing opportunity to get under the hood of our ambitious and dynamic charity and help us achieve our mission. As a national charity we have reach, but are also small enough to be very agile with decision making. Your input will make a huge difference to our development.
Our new Honorary Treasurer will bring exceptional financial management and analysis skills to a financially literate Board. S/he will be familiar with charity finance (or keen to learn if this is a new field, specialist training will be arranged). With a diverse and growing range of income streams, s/he will be accustomed to interpreting complex budgets and presenting these to lay colleagues. With knowledge of business management systems (we use Quick Books), our new Treasurer will be comfortable supporting the CEO and Chair as well as having a hands on involvement with our finance and admin manager and Independent Examiner when required. It would be useful for our new Treasurer to bring knowledge of fundraising and income generation within a not for profit context, and ideally some knowledge of business startups would be ideal.
We are seeking individuals who demonstrate a keen interest in and affinity with The Orchard Project’s aims and values.
The role is unremunerated, although reasonable expenses are paid. The annual commitment will be based around 4-6 Board meetings. Other internal and external inputs lead us to anticipate that the Treasurer will need to commit a minimum of 12-15 days per year in fulfilling their role.
