The RHS Flourish Fund has enabled us to provide eight free places on our latest Certificate in Community Orcharding (CICO) course to students from backgrounds currently under-represented in the horticultural sector.
Our unique orchardist training course combines high quality online learning with face-to-face training days. Students will learn from orchard experts at a range of projects across London, as well as home learning from over 100 online resources and a course book. This Level 3 course is accredited by Crossfields Institute and teaches participants everything they need to know about managing community orchards through a combination of theory and practical skills.
We’ve been running CICO courses since 2017 and they’ve been hugely successful, with over 115 students becoming qualified orchardists and many going on to employment in the sector. “We’re so proud to be empowering and inspiring our students to become the outstanding orchardists the world needs!” says Jo Homan, Education, Skills and Training Manager.
The current CICO 11 London course starts this Saturday (18 February). In addition to a free place on the course, the eight students will also receive a bursary to help cover travel and lunch expenses.
