It has been a challenging year for everyone, but there have been many successes and highlights among team Orchard Project too. We’re delighted to end the year with some good news! – We’ve received three funding awards which will allow us to create many fruitful, outdoor experiences for community groups next year.
The National Lottery Community Fund: Awards for All
We’ve received an Awards for All grant from The National Lottery Community Fund in Scotland. This £5,000 grant will enable us co-create a new orchard with the local community in Penicuik. Chair of the National Lottery Community Fund (Scotland), Kate Still, said, “In these unprecedented times, it’s heartening to see the way Scottish communities are coming together to provide each other with support. I would like to congratulate The Orchard Project on their award, which is testament to the incredible efforts of their staff and volunteers. National Lottery players can be proud to know that the money they raise is making such a difference.”
Kusuma Trust
The Kusuma Trust works in partnership with charities which enrich community greenspaces (among other great focuses). We are very grateful for their generous award of £14,050. This will be used for a new Blossoming School Orchards project, which involves planting two new orchards in primary school grounds to help children connect with nature and food sources.
The Rank Foundation
We’ve been awarded a £12,000 grant from The Rank Foundation’s Covid-19 Recovery Fund, run in partnership with the Government’s Community Match Challenge scheme. This fund and scheme aim to remedy some of the difficulties charities are facing in their funding streams due to Covid-19.
Thank you to these, and all our partners and funders for your support!
