TBC - GREATER MANCHESTER Manchester
It can be confusing to decipher which trees need what type of pruning in summer. Let Stephanie Irvine (The Orchard Project/BBC Radio) guide you in how to identify what to cut, save and train in the summer months.
By the end of the day you’ll have learnt more about how to:
- prune apple and pear trees that have been trained, eg cordon, espalier
- prune stone fruit (plums etc)
- bud graft.
ABOUT THE TRAINER:
Stephanie Irvine is the Orchard Restoration Project Manager with The Orchard Project. She joined our team in October 2014 and worked on the development phase of our London based ‘Celebration of Orchards’ project. A former radio journalist, she left the BBC to pursue her passion for nature conservation and food growing. She studied horticulture, set up an award-winning community allotment on her housing estate and volunteered with Hackney’s Tree Musketeers.
