Tuesday 20 August 3-8pm
Alexandra Park Food Forest, Alexandra Park Glasgow G31 3JJ
Come and refresh your summer pruning skills and then learn the art of bud grafting fruit trees with Appletreeman Andrew Lear, Scotland’s foremost nurseryman. We will start with a pruning session in Alexandra Park Food Forest, a hidden paradise of 70 fruit trees, numerous fruit bushes and useful herbs, with a demo and Q&A on summer pruning of fruit trees. We will also collect some budwood material. Then there will be a break for a picnic dinner, followed by the grafting session where you will learn the tricky skill of transplanting a bud from the variety of your choice into a rootstock (pear, plum and apple). If you have a favourite variety you can bring a cutting to propagate.
