Come along to Glen Roads Gardens, Oldham for a day of stone fruit-tree pruning. Spend the day outdoors, meet new people and learn new skills!
This is a free event to attend, please book your place on Eventbrite.
We will be running two repeat sessions:
10am – 12.30pm
1pm – 3.30pm
Please arrive at either 10am or 1pm to go through safety and demonstrations. If you would like to stay for the whole day you are very welcome to! Please be aware though that there are no toilets onsite and you will need to bring lunch with you.
You will get the opportunity to:
- Learn how to assess the health of the trees and what cuts need to be made
- Learn the safe use of pruning equipment
- Have a go yourselves at pruning the cherry and plum trees onsite
We will provide light refreshments and all the tools you need for pruning. Please wear closed, sensible outdoor footwear and gardening clothes. This session is recommended for adults, under 16s must be supervised and anyone under 18 can only use the tools at the discretion of, and with ongoing supervision from parents/guardians.
There are a few steps down to the trees and the trees are mature and quite tall so we will be using long-handled pruning tools.
