Join The Orchard Project and Easy Come Easy Grow for a free guided workshop at the community orchard in Brookdale Park, Newton Heath. This workshop is free of charge thanks to funding from Manchester City Council, book your space HERE.
Brookdale park has a lovely mature orchard that is in need of some pruning, come and join us for a day of free training and hands-on pruning practice. No prior experience necessary, we will complete an orchard health check, discuss the theory of pruning and then all have a go with the tools provided. Please arrive in the morning to get the most out of the training. We will be using sharp tools, so participation is for supervised teens and over 18s only.
Please bring lunch and warm, outdoor clothing. There are no toilets onsite, but I can find out if we are able to use the facilities at a local pub or cafe. We will provide refreshments and all tools, but if you have any secateurs and gloves please bring them along!
Access to the orchard is from the entrance off Droylsden road, follow the path as it bends round to the right, past the skate park and you will find the orchard on your left, there is a small section of muddy grass to cross into the orchard.
