Join the Orchard Project’s Fergus Walker in a training session on formative pruning of apples and pears at this new orchard, part of the Roots of Ruchill community garden.
Learn how to inspect trees for general health, identify disease and prune them to help establish a healthy and productive shape for the year ahead.
Tools and refreshments provided. Dress warm and waterproof – we never know what the weather might throw at us! There will be a pot of soup at the end of the event – please bring a mug, bowl and spoon.
The garden is located at 443 Bilsland Drive, Glasgow G20 9JN. The gate is to the west of the Ruchill community centre, opposite the drive to the Benview campus and has colourful ‘roots of ruchill’ metal writing on the black iron gates. Go straight ahead through the scrubland and the orchard is at the back.
Please arrive 10.45 for 11am start.
