Formative Pruning and Orchard Care Workshop, Barrhead

Wednesdsay, 14th March, 10:00 – 12:30 GMT

Water Works Orchard. A736, Barrhead, G78 1TH

Book Tickets

Planted in 2016 this amazing orchard of 250 trees really needs a good prune! You’ll get hands on a practical experience in making the right cuts to promote healthy trees, strength and the right shape for your trees as well as advice and experience in year-round maintenance of community orchards.

The workshop will be taught by orchard keeper and nurseryman Tom Watson from Leith Community Croft Tree Nursery. You will also have Helping Britain Blossom’s own project manager Fergus Walker on hand to assist, guide and advise. Under their supervision and guidance you’ll quickly be assessing trees, making cuts and helping this community orchard thrive for many generations to come.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided for all participants.

This workshop is FREE to those who are already Helping Britain Blossom orchard volunteers, or a member of a community orchard, and there is a ticket price of £20 to members of the public.

Getting there

There will be 6 SEATS available in a people carrier going from central Glasgow (Charing Cross) leaving 9.15am. If you would like a lift please book a ticket below and contact fergus@theorchardproject.org.uk.

The No. 3 Bus goes every 30 minutes from the centre of town.

You can catch the train from Central Station then a bus (or take your bike and cycle the last bit).

If you are arriving by car then take the A736 towards Barrhead and when you get to the Blackbyres Roundabout, take the first exit right off the roundabout to the gravel drive with a gate. You can park at the side here. The Waterworks isn’t through the big gate, it is through the small gate with the colourful ‘Water Works’ sign.
