Sunday 24th February
Longford Park, Stretford, Greater Manchester
In the winter of 2016 we gathered on the newly opened Manchester Disc Golf course to adorn their lovely site with obsticles AKA fruit trees. Sixty heritage variety apples and pears were planted and now it’s time to head back, see how they’re doing, prune them, mulch them and adjust any of their cages… and maybe throw a few discs along the way. Word on the street is that there may be an impromptu Wassail at the end of the day too.

Please note this is an additional cry for help as the Manchester Disc Golfers have a massive site to maintain. In their words:
‘It takes lots of work keep our course looking gorgeous and bloomin lovely! So please come along and join us on Sunday February 24th 2019 for a day of tree pruning/transplanting, bulb planting, fence repairing and path building*.
*Actually chores subject to change! :)’

We’ll lead the charge on the fruit tree pruning but there is much to be done. You’ll have The Orchard Project’s Dan Hasler on hand to assist, guide and advise. Under his supervision and guidance you’ll quickly be assessing trees, making cuts and restoring the 60+ fruit trees within the park along with the Manchester Disc Golf team and Orchard Leaders from across Greater Manchester.
Hot drinks & light refreshments will be provided. Please bring some lunch with you.
