Come and help celebrate the progress of our community orchard planted last year with the support of the national Orchard Project here in Leeds (Helping Britain Blossom) and Parks and Countryside (LCC). The orchard contains 28 fruit and nut trees with a number of varieties of apples, pears, plums and hazels and one mulberry.
Taste fresh apple juice – apples donated locally will be crushed and juiced on site – so please bring along both eating and cooking apples from your own garden too.
Peel the longest length of apple peel and make decorated apple ‘heads’ – especially for children.
‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’ – learn about the health benefits of apples.
Read about the wide range of recipes using apples – salads, cakes, chutneys, desserts etc.
There will also be the opportunity to help us plant spring bulbs in the orchard.
